The Cable/DSL router allows you to share your high speed internet connection to many computers, using only one IP (internet protocol) address. DSL networking routers use a process called network address translation (NAT) to act as a gateway for multiple computers to the internet. NAT provides security features such as firewall for internet connections. A DSL Router fits into your network right after your cable modem/DSL modem. An ethernet cable will plug into your router from your cable/DSL modem into the WAN port on the router.
